The Sleepover Disaster

Inspired one night by a particularly great set by local Fresno band Flaming June, songwriter/guitarist Luke Giffen and drummer Vince Corsaro formed The Sleepover Disaster in 1997. Sharing a love of the late 80s/early 90s Shoegazer scene, they immediately set about crafting a sound that combined big, atmospheric guitars with melodic songwriting and driving rhythms. The result is a sound rooted in the Shoegaze genre, but decidedly updated, as well as an energetic live show. Surviving a few line-up changes in the early years, The Sleepover Disaster eventually found bassist/engineer Eric Peters, whose knowledge of the recording studio greatly enhanced the band's recorded sound. The Sleepover Disaster has played all over the West Coast with bands such as Earlimart, Starflyer 59, Radar Bros, Great Northern, and Lagwagon, along the way releasing four recordings. Their most recent releases, Loud is the New Quiet (2004), and The Oceanographer EP (2005), received glowing reviews from indie zines The Big Takeover, Dagger, and Losing Today, as well as many stellar web reviews, and garnered college radio and independent radio play across the U.S. and internationally. 2008 found the band playing a showcase at the prestigious South by Southwest Music Conference (SXSW2008), and in August, 2008, the band signed to Devil in the Woods Records. An all-new, full-length record is scheduled for release on February 10, 2009, and the band will play many and various locations in the Western United States during the first half of 2009. 更多>>
