2010-Grammy-nominated R&B powerhouse and songwriter, Kelly Price, is back and set to release her much-anticipated sixth album, Kelly, in February 2011. Since making her mark in 1998 with the double-platinum debut, Soul of a Woman, Kelly Price has been a consistent presence on the R&B and Gospel scenes.   In this latest exclusive interview with Singersroom, the R&B diva talks about her new album 'Kelly,' her thoughts on the music business and why she's not mad, plus she gives a rendition of her new single "Not My Daddy."   The new R&B album, “KELLY,” will feature additional production by Warryn Campbell, Shep Crawford, Jazz Nixon and Lawrence Waddell.   In addition to the success of “Not My Daddy,” and the anticipation of the forthcoming album, it was recently announced that Kelly Price has been added to the stellar line up of performers at the 2011 Essence Music Festival, which takes place this July 1-3 in New Orleans. The Essence Music Festival will celebrate the roots of R&B and will feature over a dozen acts from all genres of R&B. Kelly Price will be a featured performer among other artists including: Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, Jill Scott, Trey Songz, Boyz II Men, Charlie Wilson, Fantasia, Stephanie Mills, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Macy Gray, Mavis Staples, to name a few. The Essence Music Festival connects music, culture and community.   About Kelly Price   Since making her mark in 1998 with the double-platinum debut, Soul of a Woman, Kelly Price has been a consistent presence on the R&B scene. Her first single, “Friend of Mine,” was a record-breaking single that made history as the first to garner the #1 spot on the singles chart without an accompanying video clip-a rare feat during the era when music videos were the driving force of popular culture. She returned to center stage three years later with the platinum-plus seller, Mirror, Mirror, led by her remake of the R&B classic, “As We Lay,” and followed up with the gold-selling holiday collection, One Family: A Christmas Album in 2001. Three years after releasing her fourth album, Priceless (April 2003), she returned to her roots for This Is Whom I Am, a live gospel album recorded at her church home in Long Island. The album included the uplifting single, “Healing,” which not only reached the top of the gospel charts, but was also credited and awarded at the 2007 ASCAP Awards as one of the top five songs played across both R&B and Gospel genres during 2006.
