Born a musical child in hype Paris and committed to be a bohemian since then, Sophie followed a classic path until high school grad, to the exception that music was part of her everyday routine. She started piano at early age, and at around 12, started using her dad's home studio everyday, writing songs, programming beats and recording music. She started to record her own vocals at around 15.
Although she'd planned to study sound engineering in Paris, she left to Boston (MA) to study at Berklee College of Music, encouraged by being granted a scholarship... Growing up listening to Stevie Wonder and the Beatles, she discovered gospel and jazz once in the U.S. and since then, understood the roots of it all.
After a couple of years in Boston, Sophie packed her not-that-many bags, and unpacked them a few hours later in New York City. The next day, she was hired in a recording studio. The day after, she started performing backing vocals with artists from the underground Soul music scene. It's only a few months later that Sophie got her act together and started performing her own material.
Sophie's live performances have impressed and seduced a constantly growing audience around the world. So far, Delila has played in prestigious venues in London (Jazz Café, Soho Revue Bar, The Bedford, The Regal Room), New York (Blue Note, Joe's Pub, S.O.B's, B.B .King's), Paris (L'Elysee Montmartre, L'Europeen, Le Tryptique, Le Sentier des Halles), Oslo and Lisboa…
Sophie has been living in London since 2005. She has been developing her career as a solo artist mainly around her own recording studios based on Heathmans Road, Parsons Green SW6. She’s currently finalizing an LP co-written and co-produced with Steve Booker (responsible for worldwide hit “Mercy” by Duffy). Other collaborators on the album are Blair MacKichan, Derrick McKenzie, Jon Kelly, Julien Jabre, Michael Tordjman, Simon Hale and Robert Kirby.
