One year, five months and 23 days after committing their very first song to Pro Tools, Furlined's album Love Comes In Canisters is finally finished, released on their own Concave Records label through Pinnacle on Monday 8 September. BIOGRAPHY
Potent melodies and a large dose of sardonic wit lie at the heart of Furlined, a Bristol-based duo formed in January 2004 after a chance encounter at an ante-natal group.
Convinced that the lush strains of Tegan Thomas’s cello would prove an ideal complement for his songs, vocalist and guitarist Neil Crossley invited the former National Youth Orchestra player to a recording session. The results were impressive and the duo were soon playing every gig they could get in an effort to hone their distinctive sound. Three years on and Furlined's sound has been significantly enhanced by the addition of bassist Graham Dalzell and drummer Greg White. The band have just completed their debut album Love Comes In Canisters, which has been produced and engineered by Nigel Pulsford, former guitarist with Bush. The album is released on 5 March 2008.
“Lyrically, we tend to focus on the quirks of British culture,” says Neil, “elevating and celebrating the ridiculousness of the everyday. And the whole stripped-down, sparsity of our sound seems to fit what we’re trying to achieve.”
