A classical pop hybrid viola player of sorts, Anni Rossi drew comparisons to other, equally anachronistic musicians such as Joanna Newsom, whilst drawing much critical praise for her interesting take on the burgeoning style. Using the viola to guide her way through folk-classical-pop songs such as her single "Wheelpusher," and her unique internet based take on Radiohead's "Creep," Rossi built up a small following in 2007-2008. Featured as indie stalwart label Too Pure's single of the month (for "Wheelpusher" in January of '08, Rossi spent the first part of that year touring the British Isles. The next few months of that year were set aside for planning Rossi's debut album.
