Few have taken a path as unconventional as singer/songwriter Cameron Forbes in preparation for the independent release of his EP, Masterpiece. Teaming up with producer David D.A. Doman of Beluga Heights/Universal, Forbes wrote all of the songs on Masterpiece. Each reveals a glimpse of just how unique his journey has been. Forbes, like many, was exposed to music at an early age. Saxophone and piano lessons and a household with diverse musical tastes ranging from Motown to Mozart gave him a broad and solid musical foundation. However, it wasn't until his senior year of high school that Forbes actually started singing. A band that needed a keyboardist for a talent show asked him to play with them. After the members heard Cameron sing at rehearsal, they gave him the microphone too. And he's been singing ever since. During his time at the University of Michigan, Forbes began writing his first songs in between classes and spending late nights recording them himself at the school's studios. Soon after graduating early from the University's business school, he had a chance meeting with D.A. just prior to moving to Minneapolis to work for a top Fortune 500 company. The introduction was important for the growth he needed as an artist. All of these experiences have converged to produce an album that showcases an undeniable range in Forbes' singing and songwriting. However long and uncommon the route, the release of Masterpiece, which was recorded entirely out of a small closet in his Minnesota apartment, is the first stake in the ground for Forbes as a solo artist. His Masterpiece is a step forward in a musical journey that is really just beginning. \
