Richards is currently working on her latest EP, featuring the new single I Like Girls. Originally inspired to be I Hate Boys, her latest track is a female anthem, very pop-heavy and slightly risqué in lyrics, describes Richards. Her style is bold, vibrant in colour; a compliment to her striking features and petite frame. If I could be reincarnated I would want to be Debbie Harry. I loved her style, her wispy voice and her cool relaxed vibe. She's rad! exclaims Richards. A signature retro-pop style is not lost on the clothing styling for her new accompanying video. A passionate performer, Richards is presently training with Drive Dance Studio in Vancouver, and choreographer Geneen Gorgiev (who also worked on the video).
With a personal love of fashion, and as beautifully stunning as she is talented, Richards has also dabbled in the modeling world while continuing to develop her musical talents. Honing her songwriting abilities, she has been fortunate to have worked with the notable Sean Hosien (Bananatoons), Lil Henriques (Hipjoint), Sam Ryan (SOS music), Lynda Mckillip and singer/songwriters Nat Jay and David Blair. Recently she travelled to Nashville to write with pop songwriter Tebey.
Her career began in Victoria, BC, where she discovered her true love, performance. Music has always been an important part of Richards life. Throughout her childhood, her father played lead guitar and sang in a band, exposing her to music on a regular basis. Her natural musical talent was encouraged at home, and it wasnt long before her mother enrolled her in music and dance lessons. From that point on she craved the spotlight, performing for friends and family at every opportunity, always knowing she wanted to pursue the arts further. After just one year of performing on the local Victoria scene, a music producer recognized her talent and approached her, wanting to work with her to create her first CD. Following this, Richards worked with the reputable Wine Cellar Music Studios in Vancouver, where she met music producer and engineer, Ryan Stewart. Through their six month collaboration, they developed an exciting sample of Richards talents in the form of a three-song demo CD.
Richards first music video from her debut single, Second Guess, (produced by Broken Mirror Records) was featured on MuchMore Musics Weekly Top Ten. In September of that same year her second single, Princess was featured as Virgin Radios Best of BC. A proud Canadian, Richards was thrilled to have her work featured on playlists designed specifically for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Village venues, and in rotation on the Olympic Radio station.
Ash will be making another trip to Nashville in Sept 2011 and hopes to be performing her new original material early in 2012.
