Stornoway is a British alternative indie pop band who formed in 2006 in the Cowley area of Oxford, UK. Stornoway consists of singer and guitarist Brian Briggs; singer, guitarist, cellist and keyboardist Jon ouin; singer, guitarist and bassist Oliver Steadman; and drummer Robert Steadman. The band is often joined by trumpeter Adam Briggs and violinist Rahul Satija. Named after the Hebridean town on the Isle of Lewis, which appears on all UK televised weather reports and shipping forecasts, the group incorporates string instruments and keyboards, supported by a typical pop backline of guitar, drums, and bass guitar. The band is signed to the British independent record label 4AD. Before signing to a record label, the band self-released three CD EP’s; The Early Adventures of Stornoway, Letters From Lewis and On The Rocks Their first single on 4AD was Zorbing, which was released in July 2009. This was followed up by Unfaithful, later that year. A third single, I Saw You Blink was released in March 2010. Their debut album, Beachcomber’s Windowsill was released in May 2010.
