Canadian Invasion is the sound of America's suburbs: a satirical line in the sand in the war against Canada's ultra leftist agenda of gun control and health-care-on-demand, chroniclers of suburban psychosis to the tune of what The Washington Post describes as "British-pop sensibilities mixed with guitar-driven American rock that can leave you happily humming the tunes."
Born in the damp basements of South Jersey, a place where the Confederacy still reigns in the hearts of the Miller Lite-swilling toughs who dare not venture into the depraved metropolis of Philadelphia that lies only miles away from them, Canadian Invasion did what any semi-sentient people from South Jersey do—they got out, only to find a world crawling with suburban neurotics. So rather than leave the uniquely universal soul-sucking qualities of South Jersey suburban life behind, instead their music celebrates and derides the naiveté, commercialism, and melodrama of their home and its denizens, all the while holding a tuneful mirror up to suburban America…
In 2003, On Tap Magazine said their debut release, the Blame The Robots EP, was "one of the best recordings (of the) year...a collection of melodic songs that seamlessly shift from catchy Brit-pop to ambient indie rock."
In March 2006 CI released the full-length follow-up, Songs for the Atco Ghost, produced by Stewart Myers (Jonathan Rice, Rachel Yamagata), a record The Philadelphia Weekly said found the band “graduating to a breathy jangle that’s both bubblegum and alt-country.” Atco Ghost enjoyed play on some 200 college and non-commercial stations across the country while the band spent much of ’06 and ’07 gigging around mid-Atlantic venues like Johnny Brenda’s and The North Star Bar in Philly, The Black Cat and DC9 in DC, and The Delancey in New York.
Early 2008 finds the band ready to release the full-length follow-up to Atco Ghost, recorded with Philly-based producer Brian McTear (The A-Sides, Matt Pond PA, Apollo Sunshine) with massive globetrotting to follow.
