Dylan Mondegreen

Dylan Mondegreen is the pseudonym for recording artist Borge Sildness, a musician who has been writing, recording and releasing quality indie pop since the mid-2000s to a dedicated world-wide fanbase, to date he’s released two albums to great acclaim, selling more than 5000 of each. Borge’s third album, the self-titled Dylan Mondegreen release will be the first to be released in he UK in a bid to further his reputation and fanbase across the globe.

The first thing you notice about his is the album is that far from the standard, stripped down acoustic singer-songwriter fare, each and every track on here features lush instrumentation from the strings of the opening number, Castaway to the keys assisted You Make It Easy, Dylan (or Borge if you prefer) and his backing band create bewitching, expansive symphonic pop topped off with dreamy male/female harmonies and infectious vocal pop hooks that weave an intoxicating and seductive spell on the listener.

In the past Borge’s music has been compared to that of Prefab Sprout, Jens Lekman and Sufijan Stevens and you can hear those influences among others within the grooves of this album, it’s a widescreen full-bodied album with a near orchestral feel topped off by Borge’s soft almost lulling croon.

Obvious highlights include the aforementioned opening salvo, Castaway, a delicious mood setter with the lush orchestration and beautiful delivery, the summery, bright and breeze groove of It Takes Two that see’s Dylan combine the aforementioned strings with with a somewhat unexpected addition of steel drums and the stirring jazzy, closing number, Tears All Over Town with it’s stunning arrangement, that see’s delicate vocal harmonies backed with a wonderous mix of strings and woodwind.

Dylan Mondegreen is a lovely, serene album for lovers of well-crafted, expansive pop and heartfelt simplistic tales of love and loss.
