在热门剧集《欢乐合唱团》第二季里饰演Kurt男友的Darren Criss凭借完美翻唱Katy Perry的热门单曲Teenage Dream和Train乐队的大热单曲Hey Soul Sister顺接蹿红，成为全美各大媒体关注的焦点。而实际上，在参演Glee之前，卷毛萌萌男Darren就已经是一个十足的草根音乐达人了。在youtube上有很多他成名前翻唱的视频。而在今年7月份，参演Glee之前，他就在Itunes上开卖了自己的首张EP。
