《辐射:新维加斯》是欧美人气RPG系列辐射新作，并非《辐射3》的续作，本作采用与《辐射3》相近的游戏系统和角色扮演游戏要素，是继承系列世界观的一款独立作品。



游戏设定在中美之间的Great War之后，即一场开始于2077年10月23日，持续不到两个小时却造成了巨大毁灭的全球热核战争。在 Great War之前还爆发了能源战争，在此期间，联合国解散，美国因瘟疫流行而局势紧张，加拿大则被美国吞并。



《新维加斯》以一个大爆炸开始，而并非是一个地下室中的无名幸存者。《USA Today》的报导，一开始玩家扮演的人物会中弹，然后再沙漠中求生，永远无法完成他的送货任务。谢天谢地，一个机器人将你挖出，并且带你去找 Mitchell医生。在那里，你可以运用类似《辐射3》的方式来自定义人物。



完毕之后，你将可以探索新维加斯周围的地区。游戏的年代背景设定在2280年，发生在《辐射 3》之后的许多年，但是《辐射3》的故事并没有在新维加斯继续。Bethesda市场部副总经理Pete Hines说：“维加斯依然在运转，它并不是一座空城，它真实地存在着。你甚至还可以去看脱衣舞。”另外还表示：“该作会有全新的面貌，拥有蔚蓝的天空、沙漠以及植物。”可以说在视觉感受上与前作大有不同，并不会有很压抑的感觉。



你将要探索的地区与《辐射3》中的大小大致相同，Bethesda保证玩家将可以花去数百个小时来进行探索。
