不过才几年前的光景，当Catatonia还以《International Velvet》专辑称霸全英排行榜，嗓音既娇嗔又狂野的女主唱Cerys Matthews被誉为威尔斯摇滚第一夫人，连同乡老将Tom Jones意图重震声威都不忘要她助阵时，谁能预见如今她不但移居乡村乐圣城Nashville，更下嫁当地的制作人Seth Riddle。

前年宣称因为个人酗酒与焦虑等精神问题而将Catatonia解散的Cerys Matthews，只身来到了Nashville 展开人生的新阶段。她表示自小就梦想嫁给农夫，在心中她是个非常乡村的女孩！所以不难想象她找上了Bucky Baxter这位从Bob Dylan、Steve Earle等前辈到新宠Ryan Adams一致指定的吉他手，担任生平首张个人专辑的制作。原本计划是张传统歌谣的翻唱辑，却在等待Bucky Baxter一边搭建录音室、一边帮忙溜狗的时光里，Cerys Matthews写下了《Only A Fool》 与《Caught In The Middle》等新的体验。随后便在吉他手Richard Bennett (Travis Tritt, Emmylou Harris)、鼓手Ken Coomer (Uncle Tupelo / Wilco)与一群曾为Dolly Parton与Johnny Cash伴奏的资深乐手间，开心地以古法录下了这张《Cockahoop》。

仿佛是入境随俗地，歌曲间满溢纯朴的草根乡谣风情。前庞克名团Strangler创团大将Hugh Cornwell和Roger Cook合写、但从未发表过的饮酒歌《Chardonnay》、翻唱芝加哥独立乡谣名团The Handsome Family的《Weightless Again》到从祖母那听来的颂歌《Arglwydd Dyma Fi》(但原曲出自19世纪的美国)，在Cerys Matthews这昔日Brit-Pop首席女伶口中突然变得像Victoria Williams那般奇特又美妙！BBC Wales赞赏《Cockahoop》是个“A Stunning Surprise”(意外的惊喜)。
